I enrolled with CitiBank a year ago to get the Platinum Dividend Select credit card. Last summer a lot of you started receiving letters notifying you that Citi would be changing their reward rates, from 5% to 2% in some cases. Well those like me did not get the letter at that time. I suppose Citi waited until I had been on board for at least a year.

Anyway, I am now phasing that card back and have since replaced it with a Visa United MileagePlus Platinum card from chase.

2 miles per $1 spent FTW!

With my cash reward cards, I use to get $200-300/year back max, but by earning miles, I have discovered I can take 2-3 "free" flights a year domestically or once internationally. Such tickets are easily worth over $1000, so the reward is more benefiting to me.

I read about it here and on a few other forums, but never received a letter. I called to inquire and was told that *some*, but not all, of the account holders were being scaled back (?). I was not one of them, according to the CSR. I have noticed, however, that in the past two months my cashback bonus on gas & groceries has been scaled back.

looks like it is time to switch cards.

Are there *any* out there with more than 2% on gas and groceries??

Usually domestic tickets are 25,000 points/miles for the 48 states, but those rewards usually have blackouts and limitations so you can't always count on them. Sometimes they offer discounted rewards. Each airline is a little different but you can usually see their rewards amount on their websites.
