I’m tempted to try Demons Souls but so far every souls game I’ve tried (1, 3 and Bloodborne) has defeated me within a few hours and I’ve lost interest in fighting with it. Seems I don’t have the patience (or skill maybe)

Bloodborne's difficulty pissed me off so much I got in the car to sell it to Gamestop for $4 but then thought I still liked the combat a lot. At that point I went back in and looked up online what I was supposed to do at the beginning of the game, namely, running to the first miniboss and fighting him. Even though he killed me I got the 1 point of insight necessary to bring the doll to life in Hunter's Dream so I could finally start making progress in the game through leveling up my character. By the time I finished the base game plus DLC this game that I hated so much I was willing to go sell for $4 had become my game of the century.

I didn't look it up but it was by complete accident. I decided to run by the werewolves looking to open up the shortcut. Ran right into the Boss.

I've gotten burnt by that more than once now because the game doesn't stop you from going in the Boss Room the first time. Lost Blood Echoes a couple times.

lol. You’re making me want to try it again. Wish it had a PS5 60fps patch.

Picked it up last night (Kudos to BB for the quickest pickup of anything in my life.... I wasn't in the store more than 30 secs)

I played through some of the Astro's Playroom bundled game and I have to say that the Dual sense controller is a game changer. Who would have thought. It's like 3D for hands. It's amazing the different feelings and textures they can conjure through that simple force-feedback. I was completely taken off guard by it. I had read about how people love it, but it's definitely something that needs to be experienced.

Then I just loaded up MLB The Show and played that for an hour (smoother than ever). So I haven't really seen what the console "can do" yet.

I was about to post how I must be the only PS5 owner not very impressed by the DualSense haptics in Astro's Playroom after reading you two both praising the hell out of it and was wondering why, then just realized ever since the days of NES I have held controllers way differently than any of my friends do when playing platformers lol. For platformers I always hold my controller with my index finger on square and my middle on either circle or X (depending on which is the jump button), which is probably why I wasn't getting the intended experience. Every other genre of game I'll play with my thumb on square but for platformers I always play them with index on square button so I'm not cupping the right side of the controller in my right hand. Never feel like I have quick enough access to the X button with the back of my thumb for platformers if I try to play with top of thumb on square button.

I was fortunate enough to grab two PS5 bundles from GameStop on their last drop. They were for my sons. Then, last night I was able to get just the console on a Walmart drop.

That said, we were all surprised by the Dual Sense PS5 controller. Very well made and I love the pressure sensitive trigger, haptic feedback, and motion. The little speaker is also nice to hear certain things in games.

The bundle came with Spiderman (Remastered first game and the new PS5 game) and Call of Duty. We picked up Sackboy (just for family fun play) and Ghost of Tsushima. Got the Playstation Plus pass and need to see what's on it. We are picking up Demon's Soul next. Thankfully my oldest has a ton of Ps4 games that he's going to give me to play with. All the Uncharted, God of War, The Last of Us and several others he mentioned. Look forward to getting my PS5 next week and playing more 😀

You have to use the triggers though in Astro's Playroom.

How do you do that with the way you grip the controllers?

It's really only impressive when you are using the triggers because that is what gives you the feedback.

Astro's Playroom was surprisingly impressive for what was more like a fun tech demo. The VR game was considered one of the best on PS VR, so it makes me wonder if we'll see more of Astro in the future? Sony has shown off their next-gen VR controllers, and it looks like they will be using inside-out tracking. The only confirmation that we have so far is that the headset will track the controllers, but I can't imagine you wouldn't also have the headset track itself.

We picked up Sackboy (just for family fun play)

Sackboy is some good fun, but I can say that -- sort of like the recently re-released Mario game -- having multiple people can sometimes be an exercise in frustration. It's pretty easy to knock into someone and force them in the wrong direction or unintentionally (or intentionally) pick them up and throw them. Although, the game does have a sort of easy mode where you have infinite lives.

I quickly change my grip when I need to use the R1, R2 buttons.

Man Ghost of Tsushima is such a blast on this system. I'm so glad I waited until getting a PS5 to play this. I'm fine with 30 fps games if I have to play them at 30 fps but 60 fps is just so much better. As long as games keep getting made to run 60 fps on PS5 I have no incentive whatsoever to upgrade my PC. And PS5 should be pretty solid for 60 fps gaming for years (at least in 1080p mode) given they finally have a really strong cpu in the system as well as a pretty high quality gpu. This system just murders my Xeon E3-1231v3 + GTX 1660 Super system.

I really have to give Astro's Playroom another try. I quit it in like 15 minutes, because it reminded me of a Nintendo game. And I must get Ghost of Tsushima, but not until I play Miles Morales.

Why do you say that like it's a bad thing?

Congrats on the PS5! I have not played on a console really since the original Xbox. I have been debating a little bit about either getting a PS5 or an Xbox.

Have fun!

Don't get me started on Gamestop's bundles.

I guess it's hard for me to think they're awful when I've been looking at Newegg's bundles for a while. Newegg bundled a $700 AIO-based motherboard with an... RTX 3080, I think it was? Overall, it cost around $2000 for the entire bundle.
