Finally got my computer and monitor painted. Let me know what you think.

a bit over the top for my tastes, but very cool none the less! 😎 great job! did you use acylic paint? i have an airbrush sitting here in my apartment, and i am tempted to try my hand at painting when i build my new system.

I actually like it.

That looks very nice.

What type of paint did you use, and how long did it take?

I used Krylon spray paint. It took me about 2 weeks because I disassembled my CD ROM and floppy drives to paint and to replace the LED with the high output red ones. Also replaced all the LED's in the monitor with red ones.

<< You best hope that monitor doesn't go bad while under warrenty!!!! >>

Me too. But I have 2 of them so I'll just swap parts around and send the other one out.😉

<< Can you write a guide for painting the monitor? >>

The monitor is not that difficult. Just time consuming. All you have to do is completely disassemble it. Separate all the housing parts. And you will want to take the button actuators out of the bront bezel before trying to paint them. All you have to do is use some 220 grit sand paper to scuff up the surface. Just enough to knock the shine off it. Then I put 2 coats of primer in it. Then 3 coats of Krylon semi flat spray paint. Then 3 coats of Rustoleum clear coat enamel. I allowed each coat to dry completely before adding next coat. Also I like to use 600 grit sand paper after each coat of primer and paint. I did not sand the clear coat though. Finally I waxed it with car wax. This will make your surface slick.

Enjoy.

I dig it! 🙂

Did you follow any guides to do this? And if you did, which one(s)?

Edit: You answered my question before I asked it.

<< A black mouse would fit well with that rig >>

You are so right. I toyed with the idea of painting mine but it is a Logitek and the left side has a rubber pad to on it that is green. Paint won't stick to that. Plus my cord would still be off-white. Probably would not look good.

Anyone know of a good black mouse? I'm not crazy about microsoft Intellimouse because it is too small for my hand. I have to have a thumb button and a wheel.

<< nice!, what case is that >>

I've had it for several years. I think it was a Penguin Full tower. It had a Deer power supply which exploded last year. Now it has an Enermax350 watt in it.

Nice ,but I think you have the case colours wrong,if you reversed it so black at front with yellow at side and back it would look better IMHO but it`s your case 🙂.

🙂
