Went from 100/10Mb cable to 100/10Mb fiber. The difference is absolutely mind-blowing :awe:

Also went from $60 a month to $35 a month.

I could have gone with 1Gbit Internet, but that's $120/mo. Honestly I think 100Mb is enough for most people.

Except Canada where 50mb/s fibre is considered top of the line. Bell charges $85/mo for it and only gives you 175GB of data.

Sask-
100/20 unlimited for $100
260/30 unlimited for $140

Double those upload speeds for $10 more a month, bundle it with your home phone, TV etc and the price drops also
That's a crown corp offering though, so your dealing with evil Socialists.
Our other choice is a non profit community owned Accesscomm who are starting to step up to match
Shaw is scattered around a few places too, but probably not for long

Mind blowing? What are you doing that requires that kind of bandwidth? There is a world out there full of amazing things to do and see. The Internet is not the apogee of life :p

My original was for Bell. I didn't check Rogers. I don't get them anyway but this is what they want.

150/10 250GB for $126
250/250 500GB for $226

Yeah, Ontario is pretty much getting screwed.

Meh
It's all give n take
We have to wait a lot longer for anything to get here in the middle of Canada
I've never seen a Starbucks outside of a Safeway (no Safeway where I live) , no such thing as a Apple Store and still haven't made it to the big city to check out the new Five Guys burger joint
The most important thing this weekend and next involves banjos, watermelons, gophers and everyone in the entire province will be wearing green

how is 100/10 fibre better than 100/10 cable? are you getting lower latency?

agree on the 100 down being enough, i have 100/100 and have a hard time saturating it:

We have everything here in Toronto but by the same token, you pay for the nose for everything.

The internet doesn't go to hell around prime time hours. Although usually when fiber optic rolls in that issue with cable magically gets fixed.

We're getting fibre here too! Some people have it already. It's not ready in my area yet though. But the 9th I get it... hopefully. Was suppose to get it August 23rd then it got moved.

I soooooo can't wait. For us, it's not capped either, as long as you don't get the package higher than 50/30. You can go up to 250/30 but I don't see the point of that if it's capped. They don't allow servers though, which is a bummer. But either way having 30x upload speed will be awesome for stuff like uploading pictures, offsite backups etc... and the download will be awesome for downloading movies, streaming, etc. So can't wait.

We're one of the few places in Canada that have this too. There is maybe like 10 other places that have fibre. I know in BC they have a gig fibre project going on and think some places in Saskatchewan has fibre too. Fibre Op is in the east coast too and further south from here like Sudbury.

I "only" have 30Mb and I'm not jealous of 100Mb.

Instead, make 4G LTE faster pls.

why? the main problem with LTE isn't speed its network saturation. I choose verizon over AT&T b/c I can actually use LTE speed most of the time. Friends on AT&T can get up to 60mbps but often can't get on the network when I'm able to:

I was being sarcastic. :) The only difference is that it's $25 cheaper per month which means I save $300 every year. At $60/mo for 100/10, the cable company was really ripping me off. However it was the only option until now.

Don't really need a higher upload rate for anything, though I'm sure other Torrent users would have appreciated it when torrenting Linux ISOs :)

Also, it's Bahnof, an independent ISP who guarantee your personal privacy online. Same ones that host Wikileaks.

I'm on cable, 80 GB cap and happy-ish. It's $45 a month or something, while one step down is 20 GB cap is $35... bastards.

I rather have a fast home uncapped connection than LTE which is capped at like 100MB to maybe 1GB if you pay over $100/mo. TBH I would rather if cell data was like 1mbps but uncapped. With the caps, I don't see the point of even having data on my cell, and I work for the phone company. I only have a basic voice plan.

What I'm getting now at home with ADSL:

I'm actually set at 8 but I can never seem to hit that. I'm far from the CO though.

Also realized they must have turned up some more speedtest servers, this one is actually closer to me. Before I think Toronto was the closest. Imagine the kind of bandwidth they must have for those servers.
