Finally got a new battery for iPhone

You can't extend the warranty on the battery, just the phone as a whole. It's not surprising why Apple would do that, since it'd both be complex and would likely have people asking for warranty replacements when they're really just encountering natural behavior (I've seen people who can wear out batteries very quickly). The 90-day period is really just to ensure the battery isn't defective.
