I graduated in May and had almost no luck whatsoever finding a job (fucking terrible economy) until now. Got a several week long freelance gig at a company in NJ. I'm also going in for a 2nd interview at a big finance company on Wednesday, which would be a full-time job.

Feeling pretty good right now. It doesn't pay a hell of a lot, but hey, you gotta start somewhere right? I'll take what I can get at this point with the economy as bad as it is.

In case anyone is interested, I went through a staffing agency that specifically caters to my profession (graphic design).

grats, I graduated at the same time with chem eng degree, still looking :(

staffing agencies around here turned me down telling me they can't help ppl with professional degrees.....guess they know I would leave as soon as I got a job in my field, why bother.

That sucks. :\

The agency I went through does staffing at all levels, everything from temporary contract work to full-time positions. They also offer benefit plans and all kinds of other good stuff.

Congrats. It always feels good to know you aren't going to be eating ramen for the rest of your life.

I wouldn't blame the economy... I would blame your profession.
Graphic design is highly competitive.

Congrats on your new job! It proves you have good material.

What is in your portfolio? What do you specialize in? Web design? Typography? Literature?
