Been shopping there for years and always felt gouged but today I stopped by looking for some heat sink grease and saw they had labeled the Microsoft Desktop 8000 $229.00 plus 30 percent off of that

They said it was a pricing error but they had to give it to me for 169 in the end.......

I was pretty happy as the MSRP is $300

That doesn't make up for all the above retail prices they had last time I went there. They wanted $130 for an xm radio that was just $50 in their store (I know because they still had the damned white printout label on display beneath the sticker).

the 8000 has a backlit keyboard and a bluetooth laser mouse.....thats why its like 2x more expensive than the 7000. well the 7000 has a wireless bluetooth laser mouse, but its really just the backlighting that msft rapes you for with the 8000.

looks like his ms desktop has far more bells and whistles though

If you say so, but the style IMO is just horrible, and my setup looks much nicer. I don't need the whole curve thing, and I like having a number pad, even if it is a totally separate piece.

I've got that setup and love the keyboard, but my mouse went out and it wasn't under warranty. I took that keyboard and another logitech mouse and put it on my HTPC in my living room.

I wanted the lighted keys, but didn't want to pay MSRP or even 250 for it. I love the keyboard style, feels like a macbook pro keys, somewhat like the logitech, Plus it has a trackpad.

I wanted this guy here Divnovo 2 but it was just the keyboard

Hey, I didn't mention anything about the style.
But the microsoft clearly has more bells and whistles, with the backlighting and USB hub, and therefore shouldn't be compared pricewise with the logitech.
