Finally!! Google Voice App on iOS

Yea.. looks like GV is getting better and better on the iPhone. I was using GVMax to push my GV SMS to my GTalk account and was really happy with that experience, but this keeps my texts off of someone else's server, which is a slight bit better. Even though, they're on Google's which isn't much better. HAH!

Overall, the app seems to work well and is pretty quick.

Is this any better than the GV app that got into the app store a while ago? I guess this one is free and the other one isn't, but I wonder if they do anything different really.

Well.. it offers push, but you could theoretically use Boxcar and stick with GV Connect or GV Mobile.

Ug.
This app is worthless.
I don't want to call out on my phone.
I want it to work like the web interface. Call my on my SIPGate line NOT callout on my cell line to a Google exchange.

GRRR.

So much hype in the Apple world today, only to be letdown.

Blah.. ok.. I'm going back to GVMax and BeejiveIM. This is terribly slow. Doesn't seem to cache any data in the app itself. So if iOS has to kill the app from it's suspended state it takes forever to get your data back. Plus it's very slow to push out SMS updates.

SMS push was practically instantaneous for me yesterday.

Push is.. I'm talking about the responsiveness of the app when you try to go back into it after receiving the notification.

UPDATE: Seems to be a bit better after archiving my old SMS messages, but still not great. Slow updates. When the app is open, it doesn't refresh right away. I get push notifications when I'm in the app at random times. I'm keeping it on my phone to watch it's progress, but so far.. not too impressed.

Nearly perfect - needs MMS and either SIP call-in/call-out or route to Skype. Yay for $15/month iPhone! 😀

Why does anyone use any of those apps? The mobile website that google has set up for google voice is great. It saves the majority of the site so you only have to load part of it when you re-open safari. Pair it with boxcar, a free app that gives you push notifications for GV and a few other things, and you've got an app that loads pretty quickly with push notifications.

Eh.. doesn't feel as smooth as GVMax and IM. Although, I'm having issues where GVMax isn't delivering all my responses. Gah.. guess it's never a perfect world. 🙂

I dont see a way to send text messages from it? I click on a contact, but only has call, remove and show contact. I send texts from gmail...
