Finally going to teach myself ASP.NET environment w/C# & VB.NET - recommendations?

As the title says, I'm finally going to just teach myself these environments and languages since I've slacked off and have been using other languages for the last few years.

I have used a LOT of VBA which I hear will partially transfer to VB.NET and I'm "comfortable" with C++, which should help me with C#. I plan on starting with C# since it appears to be more in demand.

Question is - what tools should I be using? I downloaded both Web Pages (WebMatrix) and Visual Studio Express from MS, but I'd rather get into the environment most work places are likely using.

So far I like WebMatrix because it feels way more intuitive to me, but something tells me Visual Studio might be worth the extra effort.

Any suggestions? Must be Windows based. I plan on re-creating a few of my websites in which I used PHP.

Thanks.
