EDIT:
I'm getting an 8GB Wii U with NSMBU for $185. I figure NSMBU goes for around $25 still, so about $160 for the Wii U. It also comes with some Nerf protector thing. Got MK8 pre-ordered. I'm excited!

OP:

So someone is selling a Wii U with digital games on it already. I obviously will want to login to my own account to keep track of my games. Will I be able to still play those, or am I not going to be able to? I wasn't sure if they were tied to the console and if I login I will be good, or if I log out of their account then it's game over...

This is the bundle; Zelda and NSMB U are the digital games:

WII U console w/ controllers and games -- New condition, less than ten hours use. Includes extra controller and all accessories. Games include: super mario 3D world, new super mario bros U, legend of Zelda Wind waker, donkey kong tropical freeze, rayman legends and batman arkham city

The Wii U is actually the Zelda one, and it also comes with some Nyko stand/charger for the controller.

I think you're good but I don't own a Wii U so can't be certain. I know they're tied to the console from many different items I've read.

Can someone who owns one chime in? I would obviously want to sign in with my own Nintendo Network ID so I want to confirm if I can still play those or not.

From what I've found, you are able to play the games still. Games are associated with the console that purchased them, and you also associate a Nintendo Network ID with a console (Wii U and/or 3DS) too. However, a user can migrate games over to a new console. So, it would worry me that the user could technically sell you the console with the games, call Nintendo, and have the games migrated to a different Wii U.

This, as far as I know, is an accurate representation of the current system: http://www.gengame.net/2013/09/lets-clarify-this-is-how-nintendos-account-system-works/

Games are essentially tied to the combination of your Nintendo Network ID (NNID) and the console itself. Technically the game is just tied to your NNID, but your NNID in turn can only be on one console (this isn't like XBL/PSN where an account can be used on multiple consoles), hence the de facto situation of being tied to the combination of the two. You cannot reacquire a game without logging into the appropriate NNID on the console that NNID is linked to (Nintendo tech support being the obvious exception to this rule).

So no, you would not be able to play that person's digital games. Once that person wipes the console before handing it over to you, the games will no longer be accessible since you would not have their NNID.

How big are the Wii U game downloads? I have to say, I'm concerned how many games my 32-GB will even hold, let alone the 8-GB model.

Wind waker was a bit over 2gb. If the only game download he gets is the free one with MK8, he'll be fine.

I am.pretty sure Virge is correct. I know it works that way on the 3ds.

So, apparently, this is a thing, and it really exists...

Who would want to re-experience the horror that was the GameCube controller?
Eh? The Gamecube controller was by far the best way to play Smash Bros, both Melee and Brawl. Plus Nintendo needs a wired controller for tournaments (wireless density is an issue), so why not reuse the Gamecube controller that everyone is already well versed in?

I suppose, but I couldn't stand that thing. Everything felt like it was in an awkward spot. The right stick was one of the worst offenders. For their simpler games, it worked, because it feels like it's built for 2-button input (the X and Y buttons felt like they were in a weird place).
