Finally going on LIVE with xbox... question though

If we have 1 xbox, but multiple users that want to use LIVE Gold (to play multiplier games, and additional content etc) does each gameId then need a paid LIVE account? So I'd be paying $120/year for two?

yes you need 2 separate accounts if you want to be able to play on 2 different accounts, at the same time. i think (but am not 100% sure on this) that you still need 2 accounts if you want separate ids, regardless of them playing on the same time.

also, if you are paying $60/yr for live, you're doing it wrong. it can consistently be had for $35 - $40/yr and usually every 2 weeks or so a sale pops up somewhere.

Well yeah, I know they go on sale and junk. I was just using $60/yr as the baseline.

We likely wont play ONLINE at the same time (against/with eachother), but we both want to play online, under our unique IDs. Does that make sense?

Now where can I find one of those deals...

yeah i know what you are saying, i am just not certain if you can do some kind of family setting where you all share 1 gold account among separate accounts to access online gaming on each account at separate times.

actually i just searched real quick, and it looks like all you need is 1 gold account and you make it your "home" account. check out this page here.

Cool. Awesome.
Thanks PB.
Looks like it's almost like 1 Gold account per machine/house, not so much per GamerID.
Doubt we could both play online at the same time though. Guess I will just have to get 1 account and start messing with it -- see what can. and can't be done.

That single-subscription, console-wide setup was introduced for the Xbox One. I'm almost positive that it doesn't work for the Xbox 360. They used to have Family Plans that were discounted for those on the same console/in the same household.

You can manage to play on the same console together with one account, but someone would have to be a guest. To play at separate times, you need two accounts.

I'm confused... so I'd need to buy a live gold subscription for both me AND my son on the 360? That sucks.

Sadly googling for an answer gives me nothing but XB1 articles.

If you want to play multiplayer games on xbox live, or watch netflix / espn, under your gamertag, and your son wants to the same under his, then yes, a live subscription is required for each gamertag.

My friend and his two sons all have separate accounts on Xbox 360 so they can have their own gamertag.
I agree with previous posts that you can nearly almost always find a deal on Xbox Gold if you look around.

yeah I bought 1 year on Amazon yesterday. Guess I need to buy another.

Shipping? Why would you get a card shipped to you? Amazon just gives the code to you online.

They used to have a Family plan account, but I believe they did away with it late last year I am afraid.
