No electrical or plumbing was done and we had electric checked after the flood. I have to swap out a few sockets. figured that was easy enough (have only done a lightswitch i broke so far) to do and didn't want to pay the guy for it.

the door seems..small. not sure if its standard size. but yeah i plan on putting one up if nothing else to keep the kids out of the back area.

I was going to try these when I went to put up the door in mine:

Seems like an easier process than using shims.

Generally you frame a door with an extra 2" width between the jack studs. I think (could be wrong) that code is 28" minimum door width (so 30" wide framing), so that you can get your furnace out if you need to replace it. Can't tell from the picture if that's the case.

will have to try those. i looked at Lowe's and they have "easy" to install door kits.

also its a 28 inch space in the door frame. everything i find is 24 or 30 inch.

ohh shit. before he did it the entrance was like 36 inch's. i tried to find a door for it but it was rather large.

Starting to look better!

I can't wait to start on my basement. For now I just want a proper floor I can walk on with socks, and well insulated walls. I'm probably going to build a sub floor. It's concrete, but there is glue left over from the previous carpet and it traps in all the dirt. Impossible to clean.

i laughed when i went down and seen the stairs. WTF you gotta put window molding around it? sigh.

at this point i don't care.

the kicker is he started saying how he did more work then the contract calls for, faster and cheaper.
