Finally getting my 3GS tonight!

So after a long painful wait, my upgrade is available and I'm going to be picking up a shiny new 3GS to replace my first gen iPhone.

The best part is my wife is giving it to me as an early xmas gift!

I'm thinking of jail breaking my 1st gen and just using it on wifi and as a remote, etc.

I managed to sell my good condition 1st gen for $200 after unlocking it, which I thought was better than using it as an iPod/remote/whatever. I live alone though, so no kids or anything to give it to.

I'd agree; I would probably do the same thing. They tend to hold their value pretty well. But yeah, depends on your needs.

It is in pretty good condition. The metal back and bezel have some scratches and dings, but the screen is perfect, and it works great. Maybe I'll think about doing that .

If I have 3G then I might not going to sell it cuz there is no insurance to replace for lost or stole so I will use it as back up in case of my 3GS is stolen

Phone is all set up and so far I love it.. everything is so much faster.

On a side note we ended up getting a little bonus. It turns out that because my wife is a nurse in NJ, we get a 20% discount on our voice plan.
That should offset the additional $10/mo increase from the original iPhone data plan to the 3G plan. Not too shabby!

Update: I decided to sell the 2G.. A guy from Craigslist just came to my office to pick it up. I'm sure he is just going to unlock it and sell it again, he hardly even looked at it.

I hate not being able to get an iPhone without a new contract. I have to wait a year for my upgrade and I really want an iPhone or a BB Bold. Boo.

Had a 3G (for sale BTW) and just got a 3Gs. 3Gs is pretty sweet, slight upgrade but some very useful features added (like video). What can I do with the old 3G? Did someone say remote? I'll probably just sell it.
