Finally getting ADSL today, need couple of tips on how to set it up for best performance.

The modem I'll be using is a netcomm Ethernet/USB ADSL Modem Router. I'll be running at 512/128kb.

Should I hook it up via Ethernet cable or use the USB connection? The Ethernet cable supplied says it's a crossover, is this right if I want to connect other PC's to the Hub Router?

Any other tips when I configure it?

ethernet will be faster and not utilize as much cpu power

Do you guys run your ADSL phone line through a standard phone spike protector? or will it affect line speed?

It shouldn't matter, but it could and I would avoid it. You don't need a crossover cable. Use any ethernet cable. Follow router instructions. Done.

Tweak your registry
