That's right folks..after 1 month of searching we found a decent 240SX. It's a '95 LE trim fully loaded with leather, abs, sunroof/moonroof, cd/tape, it has a limited slip differential in the rear, its RWD!! It drives great, has relativly low mileage (only 75k miles --> 113k kms).

We got it for $12k CDN ($7.5k USD).

I'll post pics when we get it.

notfred: It's not a fast car by any means..but its a fun car to drive. The North American version (mine) is powered by a 2.4L I4 making 155hp and 165lb/ft of torque. It's RWD with vlsd differential. Its fast enough to be fun but not get into any trouble.

Pics will come one Tuesday!

hey congrats on finding a nice car! I like the 240 too, certainly a nice looking car... Nothing beats a little RWD fun! :)

But forget about having anyone sitting in the back seats... those seats are smaller than the old preludes!

So, when's the SR20DET engine coming? :)

I love the Silvia...which is why when Nissan released the 240SX...I hated it. The KA24 powering the car is gonna feel like driving the Pathfinder.

As BCYL said, the J-spec SR20DT is the way to go if you plan on modifying the car.

The S13 (and newer generations) Silvia is still one of my favorite cars and is a GREAT deal at 12k. Nice job on the find.

No SR20DET for a long long time. I just wanna enjoy the car. It doesn't feel like driving a Pathfinder, because the Pathy used to be powered by a VG33DE (3.3L V6). The 240SX FEELS fast with all that torque, which really matters. I don't care if I'm doing the 0-60 in the high 7s...I wanna feel like I'm accelerating hard!

It's not *my* car though. It's my dad's, we bought it to replace the Corolla we had (which we sold privately). This time we wanted a second car which had a/c, a cd player, more than two speakers, abs, etc.. (my corolla did not have a/c, abs, air bags, only 2 speakers and a tape deck) etc..

The 240SX had relativly low mileage and we were lucky we found it. 240SXs are DAMN hard to find in Toronto!! Only a few are for sale and most of them are usually sold by the time you call them. They are HOT cars. The good thing is that we could probably sell the car next year for the same price that we bought it for.

We were originally looking for the S13 Fastback (hatchback) but those were hard to find in good condition, so we paid a bit more and got the S14. It's still a good car. SR20DET might happen once I'm out of Uni and making decent money. By that time I'll get the car of my dad and buy him something nice.

btw, I'm one step closer to getting a 300ZX!! After all, I'll be driving it's little brother, the 240SX.

Woohoo! You'll be driving a truck/car!

The KA is the most rough engine Nissan makes. Go switch it to at least a sr20de. :(

Why would I put a non-turbo SR20DE in the 240SX?? That's just wrong!! You know how slow the car would be??? Also the KA24DE is rough, but not that rough. I test drove it, it had a nice sound to it, and you can't even feel it at idle. You guys seem to forget that this is replacing a 11 year old base model Corolla!! It's smooth enough for me, which goes to show how smooth Nissan engines are.

It'll be funny switching from one of the smoothest engines ever made (VQ30DE) to a roughest engine made by Nissan (KA24DE).

Atleast we'll have a Nissan driveway (a Maxima and now the 240SX).

SR20DET engine swap?

You might as well go all the way and stuff a SR28DETT in there. The car would be a rocket on wheels!

Heh...the Pathfinder thing was a joke...I can't think of the Nissan truck names. The KD24 started as a truck powerplant.

Anyways, still...great find.

There is no such thing as the SR28DETT...your probably thinking of the Skyline engine which is a RB26DETT which apprently does fit in a 240SX.

Yeah the Frontier uses the KA24DE I think (atleast in the past). However those KAs were different in the sense that they had different heads & cams. Atleast we know the KA is proven and is bullet proof.

The "sr20de" was meant as a joke. I guess you didn't see the "at least a...".

If anything just do a Silvia headlight conversion, and maybe later a full s15 clip. ;)

BTW, if you can afford to get a s15 clip, go all out and get a sr20det. Fvck the rb26dett. ;)

Nissan....drifted!

I stand corrected. I was quoting from memory, and all I remembered was that it was smaller than 3.0L, and TT for the twin turbo. :D
