Finally got a job after being buggered by the parents about me having to move out when I am 18. (they wouldn't do it though probably)
I am making $8.00 an hour, still, better than working at McDonalds and only getting $7.50.

I believe they do have benefits, and I am full time, I think...
I also have the opportunity to move up to $10.33, when a position opens I will be pre-qualified for it (since I passed the test for it) and will more than likely get it.

All it is is customer support for Verizon, IDK as of now how much work will be involved, but hell why play on the computer all day and not get paid when I can get paid!?!?!

I start training Monday. Also, had to take a drug test and BG check today, both of them should pass

Pretty good for first job eh!?!?

What's that?

Background check, test, w/e.
Well, they just made me sign some papers and such, hope they don't confuse me with my dad.

Ah Ha. I'm a "Jr" also. My Dad's a very good dude, and this minor confusion has always worked in my favor. ;)

Good luck, I hope you can handle it. The thing is, the only people you'll be talking to are customers who are pissed off, at you, no less.

Ah, Ok. It seems that being temporarily mistaken for a namesake would not be beneficial in your case....unless you're applying for a job at NORMAL. :D

I understand this, my threshold for bitching seems to have been extended after the years of listening to my mom....

That sounds like a good setup, congratulations. Experience and career ceiling would be much higher at a place like Verizon than most restaurants, I think!

And yeah, remember don't take anything personally. You are paid to take the shots at Verizon from pissed off customers. Some will not be pissed off, though and perfectly pleasant (I am generally quite polite to CS since I know it's not their fault something fugged up, if that's what I'm even calling about).

I mean hell, why not get paid for being on the computer all day? (more so after graduation, I am a self-confessed bum)
Much rather be getting paid then jacking myself off all day, err, that is a hard choice, I mean really HARD.

Should've checked to see if you could get a job working with younger kids. Pays better than that and you get to have a good time and spend some of it outside. Although there are a lot of little shits running around these days and there were many a time that I found myself questioning why I did it. Looking back on it now though, those were the two most fun years I've had. Keeps you young.

I volunteer with my mom at the community center in the hood, is that good enough? Now I won't though because of the job, it is 2nd shift.

I dunno man, it's only good enough if you think it's good enough. I made some sweet dough for what I did. Logged in about 25 hours a week, always had weekends and holidays off (though not paid), and I hopefully got to help out a few kids in the process. I miss that job a lot now.

It's all what works for you. Just remember that money doesn't buy happiness. I think that's why I stuck with that job through the tough times even though I could have made $5-7 more at BB. I'd rather deal with whiny kids than whiny adults.

You working for Star Tek? Lockline?

God I feel sorry for you.

I guess it's better than fast food though. I've just known some people who worked there. They didn't stay long as they couldn't stand it.

I have to say my call center job at AT&T warranty is one step closer to a job that I actually like. I get paid at least 11 bucks an hour, and I sit on the phones for 4 hours a day mon-fri. I don't know If I could handle taking calls 8 hours a day though.

Still get paid enough to feed my face and pay the rent, plus buy electronics on the side. Overall it's easy, just watch your policies and what they want/don't want you to say.
