...Honestly though, get a second monitor/or comp. use it for just AIM, and net surfing, and then have a power computer that you keep for gaming only. I'm on my 733 Mghz P3, 256 SDRAM, thats what I use for aim and net surfin, if I want a file on my badass comp, just dl it here and access through network.

2nd pic vs your uncluttered pic... you have an icon, your wallpapers are busier, those stats are useless, your aim list is way too long (unless you really talk to all those people regularly), there are urls on your desktop (*vomit*)

as for the basics, the new windows xp menu is a waste and those bloaty little icons are pointless when you could just use keyboard shortcuts

in conclusion, it's really just personal preference
