Finally decided on CPU(2.6C), now what should I do for ram?

Ok so I'm goin for a P4 2.6C now that they're comin way down in price(I haven't decided on oem or retail yet- most like retail as it's only $2 right now at newegg). Most likely I'll put it on a P4C800, and o/c to 250mhz fsb. For ram, I really want a full gig(2x512, of course) running at nice, tight timings, but don't want to overspend. What would suit me best, as the ram won't need to be any better than DDR400?

I just ordered the 2.6c also (great deal!), and bought 1GB GeiL Golden Dragon 3200 to go with it for about $200. GD has a good reputation from what I understand, so I'm not worried about that, but I would also appreciate tweaking tips.

Don't get that Buffalo PC3200 for $83 from newegg. It's the dreaded CH5 chips, which although they overclock great on Nforce2, 865/875 hate them and you will not be able to get them running over 250 MHz FSB (with any timings). My CH5's even crap out at 250 MHz FSB, 200MHz memory (5:4 dividor).

Stick with BH5 or something else.

I'm not sure whether that issue is specific to ABit (note that he is getting an Asus board). However, to be safe, if 512MB of RAM total is acceptable, it might be worthwhile to buy the Buffalo PC3700, which has Winbond B chips and isn't much more expensive. Interesting the Buffalo 3200 overclocks well and the Buffalo 3700 doesn't run at its rated speed (so that, essentially, the two DIMMs run at the same speed). However, the 3700 doesn't have the dreaded CH-5 chips and I think it's worth a few more $ for the insurance.
