Weber 2726, found it on sale for $99 at a local hardware store :)

Was surprised it was decently priced, considering their Cheapo version of the $29 very thin 29'' kettle from Home Depot was $49.00

Need to get a big grate to go over the top, would be nice to have more cooking space when having family over.

Using it to cook with could be problematic. If all you do is put a grate on top of the screening, you'll have to build a huge fire as it's too far from the coals. You could find a way to mount the grate lower.

Yeah, I see what you are saying. Maybe it would just be useful for hotdogs and stuff like that.

It's nice to sit around, drink and, tell stories. The screening keeps wood from popping embers out.

There is no screening on mine, its just 4 bars that you put the top on.

Maybe the old model had a screen? I see some reviews talking about it.

where would i find that or how would i make it? I spent 15 minutes googling wire mesh to no avail

....is that just a smaller chicken wire type of mesh?

It's a Fire Pit Replacement Screen. You can find them on ebay or any number of fireplace company sites.
