Hello everyone,I just finished building my new PC and now choosing monitor is a very big concern. My build is:

Gigabyte Z390 Ultra
RTX 2080 Asus ROG OC
9700k + be quiet Dark Rock Pro 4
16GB DDR4 G.Skill 3200
Samsung 970 Evo + 4TB HDD
Corsair RM850x (2018 edition) + be quiet silent base 800

I play on full HD 60hz and now I want to try 1440p gaming with 144hz monitor.
Mainly I play World of Tanks, but I always play AAA games when they are out, mostly FPS and TPS games.

My desk is 80×140cm and I will sit approx 2 feet from monitor.

I can't decide which monitor to buy.Probably 27' will be too small and 32' too big or okay? Also there are 34' UW monitors which makes the choise harder but they are 100-120hz and I don't know if that will be enough by todays standarts.

Thanks in advance!

A monitor is about the most difficult PC component to pick because it's a choice of which shortcomings bother you the least. I have bounced between 27" and 32" and have struggle to decide which I like more. The 1440p 27" will be sharper for text but the better pixel density doesn't help much with anything else. The 32" takes up a huge amount of space and you may not like turning your eyes and head to see the whole screen. I tried going to a 27" after using a 32" for several years and the loss of screen space was really frustrating. Most 27"s will have an IPS or TN panel. Most 32"s will have a VA panel. Even if a VA panel has a 144Hz refresh rate, the pixel response is usually only fast enough for about 120Hz. People who are sensitive to ghosting will often complain about VA panels and those who are not sensitive have no issues with them. IPS panels are typically faster but can also have ghosting issues and people will complain about them too. I suspect many IPS panels are limited to 120Hz because they are also limited by pixel response times. A fast TN panel is about the only way to game ghost free but TN has it's own list of issues.

At this moment I game on 55' lg tv which is 60hz from 10 feet, makes difficult to understand if 27 or 32 is better... I prefer to go with ips panel and to stick with for 2-3 years minimum...

I would have suggested the Korean Mbest MB279QR144 QHD 2560x1440 144Hz AMD FreeSync 27" Gaming Monitor for $300 USD but unfortunately their outta stock. Perhaps the more expensive Japanese PIXIO PX 277 with more options: https://www.pixiogaming.com/px277 for $400 USD.

Love my MBest. Nothing better then a 27" QHD AOU AHVA IPS 1440P 2K "FLAT SCREEN" Display at 144Hz+ with FreeSync - A format that actually works ;o)

I've been into QHD 1440p 2K IPS displays since the old QNIX 2710 with Samsung PLS/IPS @ 60Hz - Believe me, you do not want to be duped into 27 & 32" curved TN & VA Displays. I still have 2 QX2710's working fantastic for Video and PIC Editing.

Be aware that most screens over QHD 2K 27" are VA Panels - Same are real IPS but man you pay for them.

Don't even consider a curved screen unless it's yard wide with your face against the screen - Then you need insect eye's with a rubber nick - ROLF !

Yeaahh... It would be nice if you can add any comment besides the link

You want me to read the reviews for you? Be glad I took any time out of my day to even post the link. Research things a bit and draw your own conclusions. It's an excellent monitor, especially since the price recently dropped.

Anything for you Temuka.

That's enough of this from both of you.

nOOky, If there is nothing left you want to add
to the OP
's question, move along.

And OP, not everyone wants to write up a full review
for you. A link to a product can help with your question,
and you can read the article to see if it fits your needs

i actually bought that monitor and returned it.
i am never getting another ultra wide LG panel for gaming as they seem to have HORRIBLE ghosting issues, and HORRIBLE burn in's.
My first LG had this problem and i thought it was just related to that monitor, and that monitor above has the exact same problems.

For example if i leave a window open, that window gets burned in unless something brighter comes out, and the cycle repeats for a bit unless i drag it across like wiping the screen with a virtual squeegee.

NTY, i think if im going ultra wide again, it will most definitely be samsung with QLEDs.

Was looking today in the shop at 34' from 2 feet distance and I think that's too big and too much load on eyes, what about 27'? I think it's kinda optimal in size but I can't decide which one to buy...

I love big monitors... :D

2 x 34 inch 1440p ultra wides and 4k 32inch in portrait.

:T

If i could i would swap those 34 inches to 49 inches, but my desk is out of real estate room to mount them.

Honestly you get used to the size quickly.
You are not required to look at the monitor 100% all the time.

Also in gaming you rarely look at the entire monitor, your mostly focused on the center, and your peripheral vision takes over on the side.
The curve helps out as well.

I would honestly not get intimidated by the size. I do not think i can go back to standard size anymore after owning ultra wides.

I've got a 43" 4k 60hz for movies and media and a 27" 1440p 144hz for gaming.

Personally I find 27" 1440p perfectly fine, I did try some 34" 1440p 100hz ultrawide and wasn't too impressed compared to 27" 1440p, and the cost for 27" 1440p (at the time anyway) was much lower, so I went with that.

With the kind of games you play you probably want to get the X34 or one of the ultrawides. The 27" 1440p is better if you're mostly playing competitive FPS.

Thing is that 27'-s are 144-165hz and ultrawides are mostly 100-120hz and that is making choice even harder. I want to buy a monitor for at least 4-5 years

I play lots of competitive FPS games so it was a no-brainer for me. I was even thinking about buying a 1080p 240hz but honestly I don't play seriously enough to get that and I do play a bunch of other stuff where I wanted the higher res. It has worked with a variety of cards thanks to gsync and I couldn't be happier with it. That's why I think you would lean toward the ultrawide, you will have gsync/freesync and should last you a long time.

There's that 27" 4k 144hz but it's really expensive.

1 month later and believe it or not,I'm still looking what to buy.

There is Samsung CHG70 32' version in my country for 600$
Also there is this acer 31.5 for 350$ - https://smile.amazon.com/Acer-ED323...rds=acer+31.5&qid=1555591019&s=gateway&sr=8-1

Thing is that returning isn't an option if I just don't like something,it should be defective so I have to buy with confidence. Samsung is using PWM and I don't know will it be hurting eyes or not during gaming sessions, there is no info about Acer regarding PWM,but it's almost half the price of samsung...

I know that buying monitor is the most difficult in PC part picking but am I missing any nice monitors bigger that 27 which are worth buying or maybe some upcoming models or should I try 27'? UW isn't an option for me because of weird short height.

I'm open to any recommendations, thanks folks.

Picked up a open box nu8000 55" for 600 shipped. I think they might even be new for that price. It's such a easy choice show me anything else with as high refresh /rez.. otherwise step up and buy a q6f for 200 more.
