Yup. I finally got sick of Time Warner's shit. I was in my yearly get royally pissed off at them as they play games when your promotional rate runs out. I decided to cancel their services. Just like every damn year they eventually cut you a better deal. I hate that crap. When you've been such a long term customer you'd think they'd treat you better.
Even after I got the better deal I was still mad enough that I ordered my own modem so that I don't have to pay their $7-8/mo. lease fee. Got the recommended SB6141 off of Amazon. The white version looks ugly, but it was quite a bit cheaper (at the time of purchase) than the black version. In six months it will have paid for itself.
This is a follow up to my router thread started back in April. I had Time Warner's tech come out to make sure everything was set correctly on their end. The best I could get with my equipment and their gateway was 59/2. The tech said he was getting 4.77 up on his laptop. Fast forward to today and I activate the new modem and *BAM!* I'm getting 6.05 up! Heck yeah! I instantly could feel the difference. It was much more snappy than before. Boxes is happy. 🙂
