Finally bought an LCD :)

shower me with beer and cookies.

samsung syncmaster 730B...I don't believe how bright it is...every monitor before this has been too dark even with the britness all the way up, i"ve never seen my computers POST messages before becuase the screen was so dark....this samsung is crystal clear, and brite as anything...I've never had to actually turn briteness down..*giddy* I can hardly wait to try it on my new computer after the RMA mobo comes in.

There ya go... but my 2005FPW is better 🙂

thank you...I had a packard bell monitor from 1994-1999 and a gateway ev700 from 1999-yesterday. It was starting to get weird squigly lines in it, and shriek when I turned it on so after a few months of that i decided to try an LCD....my friend who I'm building a comp for went to best buy and saw that model with 80 dollars in rebates on it, so I snaggzored it.

I hear you man. I just got my new 19" Hyundai L90D+ LCD last Wednesday. I've been living with a 15" CRT for the past decade.

the difference is astounding...I keep going through my computer looking at old images to see if there's anything I missed

Let me know if it has the same problem as my 930B where the backlight bleeds through brighter at the top of the screen than at the bottom. I also had to jack my brightness waaaaaaay down to like 20-25 range on the 930B or it was like a figgin lighthouse. But it is great for gaming and very clear and sharp. I don't notice any ghosting. I am happy with it overall. . had it about 3 or 4 months now. It was my first LCD. But yah, man is it bright 🙂

Oh, also I like the fact the 930B has both a digital and an analog input but if you use the digital input at native 1280x1024 resolution, you can't increase the refresh rate beyond 60 Hz. 🙁

yah I noticed the 60hz thing...I suppose it's an LCD though so 60 hz isn't as lethal....so far no ghosting....but yeah I was going to post at hread about where people had their britness at...it defaults to 100.....I had to put it to 50...and it'll probably go lower than that soon, it's still friggin bright...I'm still in shock because of how dark my previous monitors are. It's really crisp and clear though at any setting. I haven't gamed a ton on it yet, i'll do some more tonight. Haven't noticed any difference in backlighting, but I'll have a look for that specifically when I get home..

It's most noticeable when you have the monitor turned on but the screen is black.
