Finally bought a new case for my main rig

Well, I've been using the same case for my main pc now going on 11 I think. The rebadged Lian Li "Rocketfish" that ended up as a flash dump sale when discontinued by Bestbuy has been one of the best cases I've ever owned. However, I am tired of modding it to keep up with newer hardware and mounting.

I decided I wanted to upgrade to a larger rad instead of the 120mm one on the back I've used in the past. I wanted at least a dual rad this time to mount to either the front or the top. More likely the top as I have a few drives that I still use including 3 SSD's, 2 HDD, and a single optical bluray burner. Trying to mount to the front with all those drives I couldn't find a case that would do it without modding which I'm hoping to not do at the moment. Not that I wouldn't be up for the challenge, but I'm at a point in my life I don't have hours to spend doing modding on my computer and making them look pretty to my taste. I rather just get something good now that does what I want.

that said, I was trying to figure out which case I really wanted. Basically a nice looking open designed full tower that could fit a dual rad up top and a decent amount of drives.

I probably should have stopped in this forum area and asked for advice, but I decided to just go at the picking process on my own. After some narrowing down, these were my options of what I was trying to decide between for a few weeks. I also had the condition of wanting a "flat" top on the case. Although the only exception I considered to that was the EVGA series.

EVGA DG-86/87
Corsair Graphite series 760 or 780
Rosewill B2
Corsair Obsidian Series
Phanteks Enthoo series
be quiet SILENT series
Rosewill Glow/Rise

Most of the other full towers were not to my liking in looks, had non flat tops, didn't fit rads the way I wanted, or just didn't have enough space or drive slots.

I ended up going with the Corsair Graphite Series 780 in black. Price was decent, look clean enough, and seemed to meet most of my criteria. Although it was a tough choice in the end. Although since I just ordered yesterday Sunday on 2/5 I might have a chance to change up my order if anything thinks I made a mistake or can offer a better alternative?

Nihil obstat et imprimatur.

Lovely case, plenty of airflow, nice, clever SSD mounting points.

Down side: the designer look and features of the case make me wonder if it would be possible for drill-tapped metal screw holes on the bottom in the four extreme corners to mount double-caster braked wheels.

I'm sure there would be some accommodation to such a project -- I just can't be sure how.

I modded my stacker 830 for dual 140mm or 280mm radiator, chose sparse but effective front-panel bays and devices, and then chose to go with an LG Macho aircooler supplemented by a CPU CLU-relidding.

I was stuck on the idea of the dual 140mm front-intake fans, and the ventilation makes me feel almost proud of myself.

Not interested in putting casters on my case. So that isn't a big deal for me. Other than that the 780 seems to be the best of what I was looking for in a full tower case.

Well I got the Corsair 780 in the other day and finally put it together. Clean lines, looks good, and positions for everything seem to be spot on. Only complaint is that the "grills" are easy to come off. they are click on and click off. And they are really easy to click off. Not too sure of a way to make it more secure. It's not really a huge deal, but could be a complication if I had a need to move the case around. I'll take some pics and post them later.
