Finally an update (Yet another car thread)

A while ago, my car slowly broke down.
First, the seat belts (automatic) stopped working. A day later, the wipers stopped working. Then, the next day. the radio stopped working. I said to myself, "well, at least it's running" - moments later, I coasted to the side of the road. It wouldn't do anything. It sat there the rest of the day and the entire following day. I was ready to tow it to my house 2 days later. I got in, it started right up. No hesitation. But, I was still lacking radio, wipers, tachometer, etc.

update:
Fast forward (or slow forward) to last night. I finally actually need the car again. So, I got the battery tested. It checked out as bad. So, I replaced it. Hurray, I figured it was going to be simple.
Well, it runs. But, I'm still lacking the tachometer, (not that I care how many RPM's the car is at), some sensor or another won't allow me to shift it into gear while it's running (and the brake pedal is depressed). No wipers. And, (of concern to me), no seatbelts. But, the radio is working again 🙂

Any clues???

Need a link to a thread, or

Type of car, year, (color), engine, model, annnnnd

a breath mint, for my mouth taste like a peekle.

DrPizza, you are an intellegent man. It's time to focus that brain on a wiring diagram of said car.

You live where winters are real and they do salt roads=corrosion. Even slight moisture can cause connections to open when light corrosion is present. That is why, in my little world, no electrical connection is ever made up dry.

Relays going out can offer these problems you speak of 😉 PM the very helpfull QuixFire. He has an Escort and is a Ford tech. Heed what he has to offer.

Relays? Hmmmm... didn't think of them.

Because the problems occurred as a chain of events... one thing a day, for several days, I figured that bad connections/wires would be termed "coincidences" to have occurred the way they did.

Sorry,

Just let it die in peace..

I would, but.......
Son's 16th b-day is early February. My wife wants to give him this car for his birthday. I'm getting it up and running, because I think it's a decent car to give a kid... body is good, and acceleration is poor. 🙂 (i.e. limits driving recklessly, he'd have to decide to speed about 3 minutes beforehand)
