The organization wanted someone who was not afraid of public speaking. One of the interviewers asked me if I was shy, I told him that I would classify myself as somewhat reserved but my wife thought I was an Attention Whore. Everyone chuckled (not the nervous kind) and other interviewer asked if she could use the classification.

The female interviewer said she thought I was a great fit but they still had a few more interviews. She also indicated she would call me on Friday to confirm a salary and start date. She laughed at my current pay and said I would have the opportunity to earn much more.

If this pans out I plan on getting in a GTR in the next few years. The kids are on their own as far as college tuition. :D

That doesn't make a lick of sense.

Ugh, I hate it when they tell you they have a few more people to interview. I would like it if they just hire me on the spot.

Well, to comfort you, all the jobs I have had they always told me they "have more people left to interview". But why did you tell them what you made previously?

Well, to comfort you, all the jobs I have had they always told me they "have more people left to interview". But why did you tell them what you made previously?

It was a slightly weird situation. Both interviewers were aware of my current employer and knew people currently working there. It wouldn't be a reach for them to call and ask what approximate salaries were for an employee who had been there an x number of years.

I also felt at that point we were negotiating a starting salary and I didn't really feel it was the best time to use the vague "I would like to be compensated commensurate to my experience.." so I essentially indicated what I would need to change employers.

This was one of the shortest interviews I have ever been on as well as the most casual. I was finished in about 30 minutes and they did most of the talking. I had a number of questions but they addressed them all while discussing the position but I did come up with a few minor ones on the fly.

As far as my original post; my family is the most important thing in my life. I wouldn't give them up for all the money in the world. I work my ass off to make sure they have anything they need and most of the things that they want but I still have some material goals. One of them is buying a nice car. :D I am risk-averse when it comes to changing companies especially in this economy, I certainly wouldn't do it just for the financial rewards but there are too many other upsides to this new opportunity to pass up.
