Using 1007 bios. I set LDT to 4x in bios but when I go to desktop and start ntune it says my LDT is 3x and my hypertransport is running at 780... My FSB is 245 and my mem is 266 divider.... Why won't LDT stay at 4x if i set it in bios? What is the trick to this?

That's your HT multiplier. Your LDT is the same as the traditional FSB on Athlon XP and P4 systems. Your hypertransport running at 780mhz shouldn't be a problem performance wise as it's been shown with overclocking tests (or underclocked as the case may be) that between about 600-1000mhz there is no effective difference between the two. At least there isn't for single core CPU's. I'm still puzzled as to why your HT multiplier won't stay at 4x. This is very strange. Perhaps it's the BIOS you're using because I'm using BIOS 1004 and I can set it to any.

I've had this happen with one of the bios rev's along the way. I found that if I changed the HT in nTune it would stick, even after reboots. Not sure it'll work for you but it's worth a shot.

The answer to your problem is this: Do not use the Ntune utility for overclocking please!!Uninstall it right now and only use the Bios!! If you feel the need of a tool for overclocking on Windows, use Clockgen, the rest are not recommended!! Also, Do not use AiBooster, bullshit!
Good Luck!

True. Mixing Ntune and BIOS O/C gives wierd setings.

I think I should clarify what I said before. I do my overclocking from the bios too but sometimes what you set in the bios isn't what you get. The HT, with certain bios rev's, is one good example. At one time, I tried to set the HT at 5x, with cpu and memory at stock, checking with Sandra, Everest, and nTune showed the HT at 3x, no matter what I set in the bios. Just for the heck of it, I changed the HT to 5x in nTune and, when I rebooted, it stayed at 5x and was confirmed to be 5x with Sandra, Everest and nTune.

Bios overclocking is usually the best way to go but don't trust that you'll get what you set, especially with a beta bios.

This is the first board I've had where I could make a change in software, like AIBooster or nTune, and that change would also take place and stay in the bios.

If you have installed nTune or AiBooster in your HDD, Bios settings can be changed by any of this programs even if have disabled them,do not ask why this happens, experiences and tests reveal this. I do recommend you not to use them as an overclocking alternative, uninstall them completely from your HDD and then get a stable Bios such as 1006, 1007. Try Clockgen if you feel you need an overclocking software on Windows!Discard the rest of the programs, they are no use!
