*Finally* a new computer at work, P2/266 to a P4/2.4 with a gig of memory

Talk about a slow upgrade cycle. Finally got to dump my old POS Compaq with a Pentium 2/266 and a whopping 96mb memory for a brand new Dell P4/2.4 with a gig of DDR. Boots faster than an application could be launched on my old system.

POS? As in Point of Sale? Isn't this a bit of overkill for something like that? Not that I am knocking your good fortune.

Holy crap, that is an insane upgrade. IMO, those upgrades are the best. It sucks to have to wait so long but when you finally do upgrade it is more like a "WOW!!!!" upgrade than a "now windows loads 3 seconds faster, yes!" upgrade.

<----- upgrades way more frequently than budget should permit 🙂

Bummer it's a Dell though.. we are dumping our contract with them finally after 30 bad motherboards in 2003 and about the same number of power supplies. (opitplex GX 150's and 260's)

My company has turned away from Dell because we got 60 bad Optiplex machines out of 500 or so.
