Doh. I heard the headline going into a commercial break on CNN. But didn't realize it was GOP confirmed. Prompt prosecution has to happen.

I know a few born again acquaintances of mine that had what appeared to be an overnight transformation from being normal (subjective) human beings morphing into rabid Trump supporters due to their church elders preaching politics from their pulpits.

Don't know what's to become of them should Trump, like so many of his former close associates end up in jail. Methinks there will be some soul searching for trying to explain why they thought their church leader's support for Trump was good advice coming straight from heaven when the guy they put their unconditional faith in gets convicted for numerous crimes against the people, not that there's a mountain of factually proven evidence of his ongoing malfeasance already out in the open that the whole world has borne witness to.

The born agains that are rabid Trump supporters, which is the majority of them, will line up right along the white supremacist fascists and be the first to volunteer to turn the ovens on if they are told they are filled with illegals and librul Marxists.

This thread is about one specific case, which is also mentioned in the OP's article.

It's news that there are more of them.

Why even try it in CA though? The repugs aren't winning anything here.

In this case? I dont know, do you? Do you have access to those records? Since they removed it, probably not. But we dont know.

Lame obfuscations aside, we do know, from the article in the OP-

The registrar’s office told KCAL9 they are trying to reach Pastor Cook and are working with counsel to issue a cease and desist letter.

In the meanwhile-

It's just a way to talk shit & stir up a ruckus.

If ok with OP can we get this moved to the Official Republican Voter Suppression thread? Trying to keep these illegal and dirty tricks in one repository. Since voting corruption runs deep in the Republican Party I suspect the thread will have many entries.

Calling all lawyers in CA, get the lawsuit going. What is the maximum penalty? Can we get the CA party leader jailed. Can we fine them out of existence? 500 million sounds about right. They may not be able to pay it all off immediately but for every $1 they raise half will go towards paying off the suit.

20131. Definitions.
  1. “Designated ballot retrievers” shall mean authorized county employees, representatives, poll workers, or vote center workers, authorized by the elections official to retrieve ballots from drop boxes, or temporary workers or volunteers retained and authorized by the elections official to retrieve ballots from drop boxes.
Ive spent enough time on the CA webisite but basically you swear an oath and register. Go look for yourself. Its section 20143

Were any of these 'volunteers' retained and authorized by the elections official?

From the church? I doubt it but we don't know.
From the article in the OP: The L.A. County Recorder/Registrar’s office... responded on social media, saying: “This is not an official vote by mail drop box and does not comply with [state] regulations for drop boxes.”

Looks like we do know.

Essentially a false flag op from my perspective. If the votes are invalidated the repubs lose nothing they weren't going to win (you don't see them trying this shit in Fl where they have a repub governor who might be sympathetic) and it gives them their white whale; systemic, orchestrated voter fraud.

So then you agree that they're going to use their own fraud to justify voter suppression? "We must suppress democrat votes or else republicans will commit massive fraud!" Wait...what?

No, I think they're going to use this as justification to sow doubt on all mail-in voting, specifically as it applies to swing states. They have a documented case of widespread voter fraud which they will use to discredit all mail-in voting, and document this instance when they try to stop counts (especially counts after election day) of mail-in ballots in critical swing states.

The fact that they were the ones perpetrating it will be conveniently left out, but hell it didn't stop them in NC 2 years ago.

Happy to entertain other theories.

Heh. It looks like the only way that the keepers of unofficial drop boxes can have those votes counted is to put them in a mailbox or an official drop box. See 4 under voting by mail-

Otherwise, county officials will see that the chain of custody demanded by law has not been observed & can reject them.

But the perps get to start some shit & get people suspicious of official drop boxes & vote by mail in general, which was their intent entirely.

The California chief elections official ordered the boxes removed but the Republican party spokesman said no. We'll see how that plays out.

"Secretary of State Alex Padilla, a Democrat, said state law only allows county election officials to set up official ballot drop boxes, with rules for how often the ballots are retrieved. He said these unofficial drop boxes lack those protections, making them vulnerable to tampering.

Padilla had his chief legal counsel send Republicans a letter on Monday ordering them to remove those boxes by Thursday. He also ordered them to provide the state with the names, addresses and birthdays of all voters who have already dropped off ballots."

The absurdity of it all is quite grand. The CA GOP claims they need to set up their own drop boxes to fight voter suppression. This is a map of the drop boxes in LA county-

Meanwhile in Texas the GOP limits drop boxes to one per county cuz fraud & stuff. Consistency not required.
