FINALLY! A clear cover hard drive!

wow, what flashy useless crap. I've noticed most of this noob crap is spelled wrong using either 1337 speak or with a x as in xtreme. This is like the 5" exhaust tip on the civic dx of the computer industry.

why not just make a clear cover? i saw this guy on the internet, he just took of the top cover, cut a square in it, and covered it with plexy glass. it was sweet.

It's much more involved than that. Basically you can't allow even one bit of dust to land and stay on the disks. A huge percentage of these bathroom mods result in hard drive failure.

HAHAHHAA telling it like it is. I'm waiting for RAM that glows in the dark. And if it already exists please don't post a link.

yup, thats a horrible idea. it might work but why take that kind of risk. once u do it you can kiss true reliability goodbye.

i d on't see the problem. theres plenty of high end stuff around. maybe they'll make a clear external usbfirewire bay thing for it too, that would be neat.

I believe that it is Crucial who has RAM with LEDs on it, which indicate usage.
Edit: Or maybe it's Corsair.

I tried it with an old WD drive that was ~6gigs. It worked for a while and watching the arm move back and forth was pretty cool 🙂

I did this back in December of 2003 so the drive is long gone by now. I took one video of it, but the lighting it really bad and I didn't even pick a good time to record since it wasn't moving around much 😛

Still want it? heh

You can get RAM that has LED indicators on it. Too lazy to link though.
