It's much more involved than that. Basically you can't allow even one bit of dust to land and stay on the disks. A huge percentage of these bathroom mods result in hard drive failure.

yup, thats a horrible idea. it might work but why take that kind of risk. once u do it you can kiss true reliability goodbye.

I tried it with an old WD drive that was ~6gigs. It worked for a while and watching the arm move back and forth was pretty cool 🙂

I did this back in December of 2003 so the drive is long gone by now. I took one video of it, but the lighting it really bad and I didn't even pick a good time to record since it wasn't moving around much 😛
