Finally- 2.0 to 2.8

Well after playing around a bit, I have finally stabalized my overclock to 2.8.
It's a SL5ZT Costa Rica- 8/1 pack date

I updated the bios on my 4g4a+ and everything is now working perfectly. My previous stable o/c was 2.76

I still believe that this chip has more in it and the motherboard is holding me back. Hard to say though. My old 1.6 would only do 2.3 on my Asus P4B266-c but would do 2.5 on the Epox 4g4a+.

Now if I could only find someone to buy some ram from so I can run at 3:4 divider instead of 1:1.

a bit slow now-a-days...intel just shown a 4.7GHz...but it crashed...hahaha...extreme cooling of course...
hee hee...on the side note...wow...you had got a great chip....i think my mobo has somehting to do with my limit too....well...i will see how high i can get my 1.6A when i get the p4b533

just a question.. how can you tell what's holding the whole o/c back?
There's no scientific proof- It's just a feeling you get.

By looking at the variables and reading about other people's o/c you can get an idea of what to look for.

For instance, my temperature o/c'd is almost the same as default speed. So that can be taken out as a variable.
My fsb is very low, and my ram can easily attain that fsb (140), so take out that variable.
My voltage readings are all right on, so I don't think its the power supply
All components are running at stock speed through the AGP/PCI lock

So what's left- quite possibly the motherboard. (Or it very well could be the limitation of the chip)

I would really like to try this chip on an Abit IT7max

a bit slow now-a-days...intel just shown a 4.7GHz
No kidding. I feel slow everytime I look around the corner. I've been slowly working my way up to spending some money to reach 3Ghz and this chip was my last ditch effort at doing it on the cheap. Guess I'll just wait for some cheap c1 steppings.

I really don't know how to tell if its a "new" BO stepping. I would think it is due to the late pack date of 8/1/02
