I'm wondering what I should buy. I know the Radeon is faster and all, and is a better performing card overall, but is the driver issue fixed? Am I going to have trouble with the drivers? I'm going to be using the card for gaming mostly, and in the future watching DVDs. The games I play are Counter-Strike, Quake, Return To Castle Wolfenstein, and Max Payne.

Well put it this way...either card will run those games w/o a problem. I have had no problems what so ever with my 8500, and I'm sure there are no problems with the GeForce. I recomend the 6043 beta drivers for the 8500 as of now.

BTW...I had 8x FSAA on today while playing MOHAA and CS. I bottomed out at 30fps with max settings at 1024 in MOHAA...but CS was still obviously at 100fps....

I have both cards and I prefer the radeon because of the extra features. Those games will run fine, as a matter of fact those are the same games I play.

Another vote for the 8500. I've had them both, and I'm much happier with all the extra features of the 8500.

Thanks a bunch for the opinions and your time guys. Looks like I'm going to get the Radeon. The drivers are fine I guess. What do you reccomend for official and non-official drivers?

@ Tates

Have you seen any texture corruption on any games with that set? I was running fine with the 6043's until I just fired up Emperor: Battle for Dune and it's nuts, almost unplayable.

Thanks

PizzaDude : Go for the Radeon 8500, I've had mine for two weeks and after loading the latest drivers I have been very impressed with it.

I'd go Ti200 personally
I just got a Ti200 128MB for the same price as a 64.. (i know 128 is not needed, but same price??? can't complain) and they overclock to near if not more than Ti500 speeds alot of the time.. they are a HELL of a good deal IMO.. and it's NVidia so it has good compatibility and excellent stability with their drivers.. I just love my Ti200 running at regular GF3 speeds now... awesome performance!!!

i guess i'll be the 2nd vote for the ti200.....i've owned the 8500 before and i'm the proud owner of a gainward ti200 right now, and i have to say the ti200 has not given me a single problem unlike the 8500 did. i had to downgrade from the 8500 to a geforce 2 pro because it was so laggy running cs. i tried everything, formatting my hd, different drivers, tweaks, etc. and it still wouldn't work. the fact it gave me other problems as well didn't make me very happy. all it really ever did for me was give me a high 3dmark score, which is probably the only thing that it ran well for me.

how do u get 8x fsaa? do u mean anisotrophic filtering? when i enable fsaa to 6x (which is max for me)... performance is horribly jittery. so i leave it at 2x and juice up anisotrophic filtering to 16x. my CS fps is stuck at 98... except with smoke.
