I would spend the couple extra bucks for the Chaintech VNF4 Ultra. I would also get a SATA HDD

When assembled properly, the parts you list should make a functioning computer. However, to answer your questions, people need to know how the computer will be used most frequently.

Computer is for gaming.

Does SATA really offer any huge advantages over IDE? Because Samsung doesn't have a 200GB SATA yet so I would need to drop to 160GB and I'd really like the extra space.

What benefits does the other version of the motherboard offer? I don't need crap like forewire and such.

Assuming what you listed is inside your budget, you're good to go. If you can find the extra money, I'd get a better vid card, maybe an x800 XL. Like this.

Way out of budget. I already stretched my budget by getting an Antec PSU so I'm already really stretching it. I'd like an X800XL too, but it's just out of the budget that I have.

So everything's good to go? Anythin missing? I'm assuming I don't need to get thermal paste with the boxed CPU cause it has the thermal pad on it? I will not be overclocking the CPU.

If you want my opinion.

That vid card is ok, but if ya'd take a 6600GT you would have less costs and about the same performance. Like this one. Its tested as one of the best, and u can always overclock it ofcourse.

I've read that the X800 has better performance then the 6600GT in everything but Doom III. I am not that interested in Doom III. I heard the X800 is better because it has more pipelines and is 256BIT.

X800 has 12 pipelines - 6600GT has 8 pipelines. X800 is generally better for gaming even if it has lower clockspeeds.

Edit: Forgot to mention that X800 is 256bit! That makes a world of difference.

If you look it in that way than it is better, though i thought ya had a tight budget.. that way u might go for the 6600gt ;)

I do, but the price difference isn't that large. The card you offered is an AGP model, PCI models are not that cheaper then the X800. Thanks for the help though.

Hmm, i missed you were buildin a pci-e pc.
Than i guess your right. But i kinda had it with ATi cards. Darn refresh frequency isnt changin in games :( first ATI card and it lest me down. Anyway. If you have the bucks than go for the ASUS 6600GT TOP model, it has 10% better performance, thought id let ya know. ( And yes, it is pci-e :D)
