Well, no one can dispute that the performance of the game has increased dramatically from the benchmark that was released several weeks ago, and yes, this includes Gameworks as well.

GameGPU
PCGameshardware.de
Guru3d

PC version not only has higher resolution textures and effects, but also has terrain tessellation which the console versions lack, and higher LoD. Really impressed by the performance improvements that Square Enix has implemented in the engine since the benchmark was released!

Wow in gamegpu.ru's test, the 1070 is essentially twice as fast as the 970.

I was getting 44fps for my 970+i7-860 OC at High and 69fps for my 1070+i5 8600k OC for the benchmark version.

From the demo numbers I see that the 1070 performance has increased significantly, but the 970 not so much. 46fps for the 970 and 90fps for the 1070. Very different performance delta increase.

I am downloading the demo now and I'll see how my cards will fair. Thanks for the heads up.

Yeah, this game really favors the Pascal architecture it seems. All three of the reviews I cited show the GTX 1070 as being faster than the GTX 980 Ti. And the Guru3d has the Titan Xp 12% faster than the GTX 1080 Ti as well. I'm tempted to download it as well as I've never played a Final Fantasy game, but it looks a bit boring to me. Japanese RPGs don't really interest me that much to be honest.

I haven't upgraded to the Game Ready Nvidia driver for the game; however, one thing that I noticed is that the game has a bit of a hitching problem on my 1080 Ti. If you turn on the framerate option, the game actually shows more than just the FPS. So, I was watching its stats, and it seems like the problem relates to VRAM usage. The 1080 Ti has 11GB of VRAM, but even with that fairly sizeable amount, FF15 would use around 90% of it -- or more -- in normal environments. The hitching appears to occur whenever the VRAM maxes out as the VRAM usage would gradually climb, hit 100%, the game would have a noticeable yet very brief freeze, and then VRAM usage was back down to 90%.

I am getting hitching on my Vega 56 as well, but also need to do a driver update. I also run 3840x1024 and the LOD behavior is very strange, i get lots of pop in when turning sideways but that pop in adds plants that i should have been able to seen before i started turning.

I'm working on an R9 270 performance + optimal settings YT video (optimal settings for me) for tomorrow. It's definitely much better than the benchmark.

Wow the 1060 just mops the floor with the 970 in the Gamegpu.ru benchmark. Oh well, at medium the framerate seemed mostly 60+ on my 970 with the original benchmark, so I guess I should be able to at least play it on that with my 970.
