Don't forget the Versus trailer.
I'm actually more hyped for Versus right now.

Versus is supposed to be like a dark, realistic Kingdom Hearts. It's not even in the same universe as the main game.
The protagonist lives in the last country with a crystal, and all the other countries (basically stuck in the dark ages) are trying to invade and steal the crystal.

So it's a different game from FF 13? Well that's a confusing naming strategy.
Anyway these look good. I really like the sci-fi/modern settings. I hope they come out soon. The PS3 really needs more good RPGs out - RPGs are one of the things the Playstation line really excels at. The only one that I know of (that's worth playing anyway) is Folklore and I'm almost done with it.

From what I hear, you're wrong about that. Same universe, but that's all the games have in common. Kind of like how FFXII and Tactics both take place in Ivalice.
Final Fantasy Versus XIII is the second PS3 title of the Fabula Nova Crystallis, and shares the FNC mythology, but is set in a different universe with no other connections. It's being developed by Nomura and his KH team, and, in his own words, is basically the result of Nomura wanting to do a game that is completely the opposite of Kingdom Hearts. Versus is the Latin word, not to be confused with the English one, and means "to go against", because it is sort of the anti-FF. It's a gritty, modern Action RPG, and has elements of Shakespearean tragedy, mob drama, and ultraviolence.

I'm going off of what was said on another forum:

If you look at the premise for both of them, the worlds don't match up at all.
Main game:
Has a city in the sky called Cocoon--rest of the world is called Pulse. Both places have crystals. Fantasy/futuristic setting
Versus:
Modern-day country (city?) with only crystal left in the world. Rest of world stuck in the middle ages.

Let me know when they show footage of the actual game and not CG. 😛 I'm not the biggest FF fan but I really enjoyed FF12 and hope that this new one is patterned after that game. I would say that FF12 is the FF I enjoyed the most since the excellent FF6 on the SNES.

How did you get used to that battle system? All those lines going every which way drove me nuts. I miss the old system 🙁

heh..I got used to it pretty quickly. Sorta reminded me of Knights of the Old Republic and I applaud square-enix for trying something different instead of the typical jrpg menu system that every game seems to have. I also loved the FF Tactics/Vagrant Story style world too (unless it IS the same world..I forget).

It's the same world - Ivalice.
I'm in the opposite camp. I love the old school turn-based battle system. I can't stand the FF12 battle system. I quit it after a few hours.
