For anyone familiar with this game, in the ship that goes to the blitzball tournament that has the merchant Oa'kka on it, I walked up to him and he asked for a donation. I chose 0 because I didn't know if it was worth doing at that early stage of the game. Is 0 bad, meaning does it raise his prices for you? I went back and gave him every cent I had to try to get better prices but does this give you a discount on the inflated price or the original price? I hope I'm making sense here. Thanks.

There is about 4 times you can "Donate" to Oa'KKa. When you donate 10,000+ you get a discount on items bought from him, but i think the discount is good until you finish the High Road area after Luca.

I think the donations also make it so that you can buy better/rarer items from him.

So by giving him 0 and then 1164 gil I have shot myself in the foot with a 120% price hike? Time for a new game?

There are about 4 or 5 opportunities to give him money during the course of the game and you've only used 2 of them. Don't worry.....just give him lots more the next couple of times.

There are 4 places that you give O'aka money. S.S. Liki, S.S. Winno, Dock 1 in Luca, and Mi'ihen Highroad just outside the gates of Mushroom Rock.

Pros: You will get a discount after giving him 10,001+ gil before you cross the gate onto Mushroom Rock road. Most of the gill you collect from chest along the way on the Highroad (Upper and Lower roads) will pay for this.

Cons: Then you will have to spend 23,336+ gill with him to break even.

While he is a good merchant you will get better items in mid game to the end game so this is nothing that big.
