And, if we want to get technical, you calling Golgatha a noob was the first personal attack there pal, not my elitist snob comment.

no, that was a statement of fact. he IS a newb in regards to FF games because the first one he played was from 1997 or so. that's a decade (give or take a year) in. i don't see how that is arguable at all. whereas your entire post consisted of:
see, you're an elitist snob, and your opinion doesn't count.

See how easy that works?
which just smacks of trolling. just because others share your opinion doesn't make it any less of a personal attack.

Like I said. Your statement spoke for itself. Your continuing statement that you calling him a noob is fact is even more proof of it. The fact that you simply still fail to see how it can be interpreted as elitist speaks wonders of how deeply developed your sense of elitism and ego is.

So let me guess, for the past 10 years, you've been playing FF games non-stop. No, wait, it takes more than 10 years to play all of the Final Fantasy series through once. Wait a minute, I got it. Only if you've had the games sitting on your shelf for more than 10 years, then you can be considered a non-noob.

Ugh... I thought FF6 was the beginning of the end for my enjoyment of the FF series. With the introduction of espers (or was it materia? I forget) basically anyone in your party could be a mage. I really missed the true class/job systems of the older FF games. Though I guess FFV with its ability to let your character change jobs sort of created the same effect. But I played FF6 before FFV. FF2 US was my favorite.

it was espers, and that's the reason i put 6 behind 2. it didn't matter who your character was, you could make him/her into an ultima casting machine. edgar was my best spell caster, yet his special attack was supposed to be those machines.

it was also annoying that the 'main' character would leave your party, and by the time she got back she was a couple levels down from the guys you'd been using.

yeah thats why you spend a few days on the broantasorus (i think thats what they were) island and get every up!

heh i had every charector at 99 on my SNES. i was heartbroken the day the game broke

see, now you're just getting ridiculous. if you haven't played the games through, as they've come out, and seen how different they were from what came before, then you're probably a newb.

i can see how i can be interpreted as an elitist, but your post was simply trolling, with no basis or purpose other than to attack me. you're the one with the delusions of your own self importance here, not me. my post was explaining my opinion, my reasoning behind why i think many people who were first introduced to the series with FF7 regard that as the best game and why that opinion may be faulty.

ElFenix does have a good point, that many people who call FF VII the best Final Fantasy game never played the first 3 US games, or at least did not play them when they were new. That said I haven't played Final Fantasy VII, but I think I'd like to.

His point goes beyond that. His point is that we should discount the opinion of every person who hasn't played the games as they came out in their exact order.

A counter point to your conclusion (not El Fenix's) would be to say that nostalgia is clouding the judgement of those that played the games when they were first released, and in order.

you should. it is pretty damn good, especially the side quests like choocbo racing
