The first FF game I played was VII, and I loved it. I then moved on to VIII and then IX when they were released.

I enjoyed VIII even with the plot holes but you have to think when you are dealing with time travel things get messed up. I have played it 4 times.

IX I played and an it was ok. I guess the mini games and trying to fight the yans was the best part of the game.

At some point I picked up FF Origins and Anthology. (1 and 2, 5 and 6) They were alright game remakes for the PS1. I was more of an Ultima fan since I did not have a NES. I can see that it was ground breaking game back when it was new the stories (FF6) just not a mind blowing as some people say.

FF X, X-2, XII, XIII is the third age of the FF game. The first was 1 - 6, then the second age was 7, 8 and 9. All of these have voice overs and emo characters. I like the stories but I wish I could b-slap some of the characters out of their emo mood.

I will be buying XII-2 when it gets released.

I tried emulating it not too long ago, but the rom I had froze up somewhere near the beginning. It was released at a time when I was away from video games, I think, so I missed out.

I loved Secret of Mana, though. Got that on release.

another SNES game that liked--Wanderers from Ys, and also the Dragon's....dragon... :hmm: shit, what were those games called? Dragon breath? Capcom made them, I think.

Funny I never play CT back in the day. My only experience of it IS from an emulator.

As for the Capcom game take a look here, just search for "Dragon"

Which was the one on the NES that you played? Cause the remakes that I played on the 3DS and liked a lot were just remakes of the NES ones.

it was known as Dragon Warrior in the 8bit days

zin, do yourself a favor and play CT. my fav RPG to this day.

and if u like ff9, then dq8 will blow u away.

I just finished playing through Chrono Trigger again on the DS so if you're interested I could always mail it over.

Secret of Mana was one of my favorites mainly because you could co-op.

And are you thinking of Breath of Fire?

I have no DS, but thanks!

yeah, it's Breath of Fire. I played 3, and maybe one released later on the PS2? at least, briefly. I don't remember it being as good...

3 was simply awesome. A lot of new systems for me in RPGs or any games that are now common (maybe not the first, but first for me)

fishing (I guess the SNES Zelda game sort of had this...)
the combination system for the type of dragons you could create.

tons of fun, and good enough story to keep you going.

One question, will Capcom ever create a character not named Ryu?
:hmm:

Not to come as rude or anything, but if you want to discuss other rpg games, shouldn't you create another thread about it instead of hi-jacking this one?

lol. look at the box art and Engrish on this old NES game. I seem to remember it.

..is this where the phrase originated?

:hmm:

As much as I loved FF3, FF7, Chrono Trigger and all the other games that were great, I can't get into them these days. I fully played through FF3 at least twice, and FF7 more than that. I stayed up playing Secret Of Mana and couldn't get enough. I still have the cart and played it last year and got about an hour into it before getting bored, same with Chrono Trigger on the DS.
To me they were great, but unless they get a shiny new coat of paint, they are hard for me to play.

Have you tried FF IV on the DS? It got a shiny new coat of paint.
