As far as ive seen there are no plans to relase any more of the Final Fantasy Series to the PC. Time to pick up a PSX or a PS2. It was a pretty good game.

Nope, it wasn't released, dunno if it will be. Try epsxe, it emulates the game perfectly, and looks simply amazing.

OMG I can't believe this. I just asked the EXACT same question on a ff forum site. The answer as been the following...

Unfortunately, there is no PC version of Final Fantasy IX. You may want to buy a PS2, so that you can play the game when you have the chance. You're gonna have to get one to play Final Fantasy X, too.
Especially since they haven't announced a PC version of that game, either.



Better idea: Download ePSXe (the best PSX emulator you can get, and it's free). Buy the PSX version of FF9 and play it on PC.

Warning: Do NOT buy the UK PAL version! It's the only one that doesn't work. Import an NTSC version or another PAL version instead.

And you do not need a PS2 for FF10. FF10 has been announced for PC, as well as FF11 and FF12.



Ack, he's right. Final Fantasy X and Final Fantasy XI were both announced for the PC a LONG time ago... sorry, I forgot about that.

However, I am not that sure about Final Fantasy XII... oh, well, that's a LONG time from now.

Clarification - Final Fantasy 10 is NOT coming to the PC. No way. However, Final Fantasy 11, the online one, is coming to the PC. Its been confirmed in Japan, and I would assume its coming to the US too.

Well originally it was supposed to be Sakaguchi's last game. However it sold well (how I don't know considering the first one is awful), and they made a sequel and it has just snowballed from there. They don't want to change the name simply because it is such a strong property.

The problem is there are so many fanboys with it though that they could just release a blank disc with the Final Fantasy name on it and it would sell a million. Thats the one small problem with the series (and its way too hit and miss with quality IMHO).
