I purchased PSU [Corsair RM750 2014 edition] which turned to be too long (180mm) restricting the first VGA cards slot to a max of 240mm. I have spare R9 280X but the question am asking myself. Do I need a PSU 2 run 2 cards or one, since the only monitor at my friends place is a 24" 1080p TN panel 120Hz or 42" LED 1080P 60Hz TV.

Second in terms of power I can't fit a 1000W PSU only 850-860W which will not be sufficient to run two cards. Shall I go with 650W unit which is sufficient to run one high end card and a pcie card if I want one?

Depends on the cards. That would run 2 970s. However...

You should be OK with only one good card - depending on how sensitive you are to FPS. I'd stick with the 280X until the new cards come out this summer; then get a decent one, maybe a 980 Ti equivalent that doesn't take as much power.

That case isn't as mobile as you think... it's still pretty large and those "handles" are only decorative - they used to break extremely easily.

I snagged a super deal on a Lenovo Thinkcentre 71z which was smaller than almost any other mATX case out there but also came with a super, durable handle. Cheap!

You're buying all new... I'd seriously consider an ITX board with a case like the SG-13B you can stuff in a small bag but still room for a top-tier video card and power supply.

I don't think I'd do the 1Tb Samsung 840 Evo. Should be able to find a 20nm MLC drive, or even upgrade to the Samsung 850 Evo (which has 3D TLC) in that price range.

I am removing one 280x from my mining rig. I have 2x780s in my main rig and am planning of upgrading the graphic cards in the main system when hbm2 cards are available as I have 2 monitors connected Acerx34 and 4K TV. A possible third monitor.

So I was wondering if I should have both 780 installed or only one. But that will require a large PSU 1000W to be safe which is two large it might run with 850W but then the PC will be heavy which is lowering the portability of the pc.

Most items are purchased.

I installed my old GTX 460 because the rm 750 wouldn't allow longer cards to be installed. I removed the psu and transfered it to my test bench.

I'd avoid a 2 card set up, especially on pre-290 AMD stuff with the frame pacing issues and all that. Adds weight and power use, and half the time it doesn't even work in the game until 6 months after its come out. I've got 2x 290s and I'm moving back to a single card as soon as new cards are out
