W4200HD 42" Plasma HDTV
W4200ED 42" Plasma EDTV
or...
W3200 30" LCD HDTV

I've narrowed it to Dell. It has to be a plasma or LCD because it's in a very bright room.
There's a $750 coupon for the 42" HD or the 30" LCD.
I'm thinking the 30" LCD just isn't enough acreage, especially when watching tv. I'm used to looking at a 32" Toshiba tube.
We watch lots of movies and intend to do a lot of gaming (htpc and xbox).
Is the HDTV really worth the extra bucks over the ED?
Should I even be considering the LCD?

Cliff Notes:
1.) Pick my TV
2.) Do the poll.
3.) ???
4.) Profit!

If you are going to be gaming then you don't want the 30" LCD with its 25ms response time.
If the movies you watch are on DVD or non-HD broadcasts, then you don't "need" HDTV. May be glad you have it down the road though.

We watch dvd's. I don't plan to change my cable service at all, and we currently don't have digital service. It's not a big cost, so I may add it in the future.
Would I notice any difference in picture quality between hd and ed playing pc games?

I don't know enough about gaming on a plasma screen to answer that authoritatively. But EDTV is 480p and HDTV is 720p+ so I'm thinking you'll definitely notice a difference. Not speaking from experience here though, maybe someone else can chime in.

That's a big point. It's really the last thing I haven't asked.
