So I'm trying to copy and paste the restaurants from say here..

http://www.opentable.com/diprogram.aspx?m=4&ref=1203

And extracting just the restaurant name from there..however when I copy and paste it into a cell what I end up is:

Alegrias Food from Spain 5:30-7:30
Asia de Cuba - San Francisco11:30a-2:30
Aqua9:45-10:00
7 / Seven Restaurant & Lounge11:30a-2:30
231 Ellsworth5:30-9:30
Amber Bistro5:30
Acquerello 8:30-9:30
Adagia Restaurant8:00-10:00
750 - Hilton SF Financial District12:00-2:00
Arthur's - Santa Clara5:00-6:30

Is there a nice way to clea up the times and just get the names here?

I am not quite sure what your problem is here exactly.

I used 2003 and had no problem except for the fact that the times were in seperate columns, not in the same cell as the restaraunt name. Which led me to just deleting the unneeded columns.

I tried copying the entire text of restaraunts, just one restaraunt, and a range of various, and my result was the same.

Edit: sorry forgot to give an answer that may help. You can use the replace function from the edit menu.

For the find criteria, put in ??:??
and the replace criteria just leave blank, and click on replace all.

? is an excel wildcard, and we have the two ?'s in there to remove time such as 12:30

However, if there is a restaraunt named schnizzle:mcgoop , it will remove the characters making it schnizzgoop. Just pay attention to your restaraunt names.

Ah, that works great! I was developing a macro to remove all of them, so that'll work just perfectly.

And it should paste the way I posted it in the post if you just do a "normal" paste--if you paste it as a text it'll separate them. however I need the links..
