Hi, I have to fill out a bunch of applications, that are provided to me in PDF format. I'd like to fill them out on the computer; it would be more organized than using pen, and if I make a mistake then I don't have to reprint out the entire sheet. I don't have access to Acrobat Professional - how can I add text to existing PDFs if they don't have form fields for me to fill in? (e.g., most PDFs). It would save a good bit of time and effort, and looks better also. Thanks!

I've started using Foxit Reader instead of Adobe Reader, and so far it is excellent!!

There is a evaluation version of Foxit Editor which I believe can do what you want when no form fields are present. However I'm not seeing what limitations exist in the eval version, but you might wanna check it out. It might be an add-on to Foxit Reader, so you'll need both possibly, but they are small and have free/trial versions available.

You can't without either Acrobat Pro or some other pdf editor.
There are a couple of Free ones out there, but I have not tried
them, so can't say how well they work.

With Acrobat Pro, one thing you can do is Save the .pdf as
a .doc file, which will then be Tagged and Word can open
it easily and be editable in Word. You can then reconvert it
back to .pdf

This can do it: It has a trial and costs $29.95

Use Foxit. It has a typewriter mode that just lets you type over anything on the PDF. The free version doesn't let you save the changes, but if you're just going to print it out and send it in, it would work fine.

(it's also WAY faster than Adobe for viewing PDFs, so its the only program I use)
