Filing the Panaflo nub

For some reason I've never done this, but I've heard that you can file one the little nubs off and just plug it into a motherboard header. Which nub do I file off? I can't determine which pins are which on the motherboard header.

Thanks, that should do the trick... I'll find out how well it worked when I build my machine tomorrow. 🙂

The pieces of plastic that extend out beyond the connector like little horns are THE NUBS Though it's a poor picture, you should be able to get the idea.

Oh, I see! Thanks for the visual aid 🙂

I've got a few Panaflos with those tails, now they're useful =-D good to know.

Compare the wires first to another 3-pin connector - make sure that the wiring is the same. I have one Panaflo, and the wires are different from the normal 3-pin configuration. Red matches red, black matches black, and yellow matches blue on the Panaflo, unless of course it uses yellow too for the RPM monitor.
Also, what's the voltage and amerage rating of the fan? It's possible that the fan could draw too much power, and damage the motherboard.
