Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone knows what the UK law on filesharing is at the moment, what with all the recent USA / Canadian RIAA-esque activity?

As far as I can see, downloading music in Canada is legal, but uploading isn't. How does this compare to the USA and the UK?

Check the link above. Its the FIPR. They are the European version of the RIAA.

As with all sharing, downloading cannot be prosecuted because it is entrapment, but uploading is prosecutable. Just don't upload
 
Ooh, please explain further - downloading will never be a prosecutable crime? What about warez? (Not that I have any warez, see my old thread in Software)

I never understand this.

Who would want to sacrifice precious bandwidth to upload anyway? 😕
 
do whatever you want, you're not going to jail.. not unless they build a jail big enough to fit in 50%+ of all computer users, that have at least one piece of illegit something on their machines.
 
Lol i was just thinking, i remember when the police were at my house once, one of them got into conversations about computers with me, started asking what music i liked too, then went onto tell me "I download all of mine off the net" 😕
