Files off old PowerBook HDD

I had a 14" PowerBook that I destroyed over four years ago and just came across the HDD that was in it. I believe it's an older IDE model. What's the best way to get files off the disk onto a PC?

It depends on what OS was on it. And the file system on the drive. Your best bet is an external enclosure, and a mac

The file where on an OSX installation. I can't remember the exact version, but it was around 2006 when I had the laptop. I will have to see if I can borrow a Mac from someone.

If it was OS X, then you can get a free trial of MacDrive that might work, or HFSExplorer. Both are Windows programs that let you read HFS+ formatted drives.
