Files Disappear after transfer

Recently I transferred my music folder from my desktop to a laptop hd via ide cable. When I turned on the laptop the files were missing but the OS still shows the space as allocated. The desktop is running Vista Ultimate 32-bit and the laptop is running XP Prof. I tried turning on Show Hidden Files and I still can't find them.
 
searched the drive with hidden files. nothing came up. currently im running a checkdisk. i think the file system wasnt happy with the transfers.
 
may these files be not hidden? then you should search for all files, but not only hidden.
