some filenames on my computer are in blue (the text is blue instead of black). But it seems to be random, some are blue some are black. Wtf?

no, they're actually all over my computer (not compressed or anything), i just noticed it when i opened up my MP3 folder and a lot of the mp3 files are in blue...

I defragged my comp last night, could that have done it? BTW I'm using WinXP.

On XP, compressed file names are in blue
Encryped files names are in green...

Hope that was of some use.
Try right clicking on the files and go to properites and then advanced, you should see something that sayz compessed or ecryped. if the check box is checked, un check it and apply new settings.

Windows XP has built-in compression (less good than the WinZIP or WinRAR compression). So those files are not zipped or anything, but still compressed.

Right-click on the C drive for example, and select Properties. You will see a checkbox named Compress drive to save diskspace. That's the one.

That was it... Wtf, how come it just went and changed all these files to compressed?? F'ing XP....

There is a setting somewhere (Not on XP at the moment, so I can't check where) that files which aren't accessed a certain while get compressed. This is what probably happened. Either that, or you accidently chose to compress the whole drive.

No, I didn't do it to the whole drive cuz it's not done to all the files. I guess it did it to the files i dont use much, cuz they seem to be the ones in blue. Oh well, I'm converting them back into normal files. Thanks for your guys' help.
