File Transfer Utility

I am currently running a FTP server, but I recently got a SMC Barricade router and ftp doesn't work behind it if the person trying to access the server is also behind a firewall. So I would like to know if there is any other software out that than can do file transfer efficiently? I have tried VPN but find it pretty slow, so is there anything else I can try? I am willing to pay for software but would prefer cheap or free 🙂

The platform is Windows 2000 Server, but can be linux if need be. The client will always be Windows though...

Well that's the problem.... FTP will not work behind a firewall if the user is also behind a firewall b/c passive mode doesn't work in that case. It obviously works if you put the ftp server in the DMZ of the router, but that defeats the purpose of a hardware firewall 🙁

So I am looking for a product that works similar to ftp but doesn't rely on dynamic port ranges.
