File transfer slow--depending on who requests it??

Help!! I have a 100MBs LAN at home with 1 W2K and 3 Win98 boxes. Soft Sandra indicates the transfer speed is about 100MBs between all machines. If I transfer a large (500MB) file from the W98 machine to the W2K machine while sitting at the W98 machine, the transfer take about 1-2 minutes. If I do the same opperation, but this time while sitting at the W2k machine, the transfer take 15-20 minutes!!!! What is going on??? Thanks.. R
