File transfer problem on home network---- FIXED!!

Hello,
I have a home network set up as follows: main computer with 2 network cards, DSL connection, and hub. I'm running windows ME on all computers (3 additional ones), and internet connection sharing works fine. The problem I'm having is that file transfers between the computers are very slow. The internet data transfer speeds are network fast, but when trying to transfer a file, I get extremely slow transfer speeds. I have TCP/IP, NetBEUI, and IPX/SPX protocols installed. What could be the problem?
Thanks,

Mark

Looks like with the way I have my network setup, if I set NetBEUI to the default protocol, everything works peachy. Thanks for helping.

First off, I would remove NetBEUI and IPX/SPX unless you play multiplayer old games that only support IPX.

Second, what kind of network cards and hub/switch do you have? How fast are they?

I was having a hard time getting the network working, and some guide somewhere recommended installing NetBEUI and IPX/SPX. The network cards in the main computer are REALTEC (generic type) 10 MBPS. the other ones are various, including a laptop pcmcia one. Like I said, the transfer rates are network fast when accessing the internet. very strange.
